Helmet ALPINESTARS Supertech R10 Flyte ECE06/DOT/FIM purple / red glossy. The S-R10 has been designed to offer the perfect combination of excellent ventilation, unmatched comfort, and the lightest possible weight without sacrificing any other aspect. Another crucial and unique element of the S-R10's design and development is its advanced aerodynamics, with countless wind tunnel sessions aimed at reducing drag and providing optimal aerodynamic stability.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS

  • Multi-layer carbon composite construction disperses energy on impact.
  • Approved to ECE 22.06, DOT, and FIM standards, the Supertech R10 shell construction uses highly advanced molding technology with a combination of multiple composites including a high-density 3K carbon outer layer, a unidirectional carbon composite layer, an aramid fiber layer, and a fiberglass layer.
  • The high-density 3K carbon outer layer provides excellent strength and energy dissipation efficiency across the shell.
  • The unidirectional (UD) carbon composite layer provides significantly greater radial strength around the casing, preventing compression and allowing controlled deflection to reduce transmitted impact energy. In addition, the aramid fiber and fiberglass layers provide critical protection against penetration.
  • This combination of composite layers, created by bonding all components with an advanced epoxy resin already applied to the prepreg fiber, perfectly controls the ideal ratio of resin and fiber to maximize strength, mechanical performance, and lightness. The combination of material layers provides better energy management as well as limited deflection of the outer layer, allowing for greater energy distribution and better absorption by the EPS liner.
  • The unique construction of the S-R10 shell offers extremely effective impact protection. With a fully equipped helmet testing center within Alpinestars' state-of-the-art Research and Development center, the company has conducted an exhaustive impact research program. Our research and development efforts have proven that the S-R10 delivers linear and oblique impact performance results that far exceed the limits of the ECE 22.06 standard for helmets. In direct linear impacts, i.e., impacts at a 90-degree angle between the helmet and an object, the S-R10 exceeds the standard by an average of 37%. In terms of rotational acceleration and oblique impacts, where the impact energy comes from an angle other than a linear 90-degree or straight right-angle impact, the S-R10 exceeds the standard by 65%.
  • Inner shell.
  • The inner shell of the S-R10 is made of EPS with different densities.
  • The S-R10 has four inner shells, just like the outer shell, and is available in four anatomical sizes. The construction of the S-R10 is optimized to ensure a perfect fit, which not only improves comfort and reduces overall weight, but above all improves the helmet's effectiveness in the event of an impact. Beneath the outer shell is an eight-piece multi-density EPS liner, with six specific densities strategically located in different areas to ensure excellent absorption of impact forces dissipated over the outer shell, as well as a snug and comfortable fit. The EPS liner, like the outer shell, has a unique dimension for each helmet size, further tailoring the helmet's performance and fit in terms of protection and comfort.
  • Linear and oblique force management.
  • The inner surface of the EPS is smooth, creating an optimized, low-friction area for superior oblique impact management.
  • When it comes to other types of helmet testing, the best helmets are those that provide protection against rotational impact forces as well as oblique and linear forces.
  • To combat and mitigate rotational, oblique, and linear impact forces, Alpinestars has designed a low-friction surface on the inner surface of the EPS liner. This inner surface is polished to achieve exceptional smoothness and then specially coated to further reduce friction, allowing the liner to move against the EPS. The result is improved management of rotational, oblique, and linear forces, allowing the rider's head to move independently within the helmet, or vice versa. This can significantly reduce the force transmitted to the head, neck, brain, and spine in an oblique impact, while also reducing the possibility of concussion. In summary, specific protection against rotational impacts is provided by the combination of the internal shape and specific coating of the EPS liner, together with the specially developed surface on the liner. This patented technology reduces the rotational acceleration transmitted to the rider's head.
  • Includes: 2 shields (clear and dark), 2 sets of winglets (Road and Race), helmet bag
  • A-HEAD mounting system
  • For greater customization and tailored adjustment of the S-R10, the exclusive, patented A-Head adjustment system is included. This system allows the helmet to be adjusted perfectly to the rider's preferences, allowing both the height and angle of adjustment to be adjusted. The EPS is equipped with the A-Head adjustment system, which allows for ultra-specific configuration that adapts to the depth of the rider's head and its forward or backward tilt.
  • Aerodynamics
  • Developed with CFD simulations, validated in the wind tunnel and on the track, the S-R10 helmet is optimized for low drag performance and maximum aerodynamic stability.
  • The S-R10 has been developed in a full-scale wind tunnel since the beginning of its development. The aerodynamic targets for drag coefficient at different head positions, as well as stability at different angles, were a primary focus in the development of the helmet shape, first developed extensively with Computational Fluid Dynamics, then validated in the full-scale wind tunnel and finally on the track. The result is a helmet that achieves the lowest drag and highest aerodynamic stability at high speeds compared to any other racing helmet we have tested in the wind tunnel. This has made the S-R10 the helmet of choice for official MotoGP teams due to its excellent aerodynamic performance. Road riders will also benefit from this, with less neck strain at high speeds and low wind noise levels.
  • The S-R10 comes with two separate aerodynamic spoilers, a standard one and a longer racing version, both equipped with a patented Alpinestars release system with elastic joints that help the spoiler separate from the helmet shell if subjected to significant impact, regardless of angle, to reduce potential rotational energy.
  • It also features side spoilers to reinforce the stability of the S-R10 and improve aerodynamic drag. In addition, the helmet visor features turbulators to improve aeroacoustic performance. As a result, compared to the aerodynamic performance of the helmet equipped with the standard road spoiler, the S-R10 is already the best performing helmet we have tested in terms of aerodynamics. Furthermore, with the combined configuration of the racing spoiler and side spoilers, we have achieved an additional reduction in drag of 4.54%.
  • In terms of ventilation and breathability, it has 11 ventilation ports, not including the eye port, with 7 inlets, 3 in the chin guard and 4 on the top of the helmet, as well as 4 air outlets, with 2 side ports in the chin guard and 2 on the top rear. These ventilation ports are integrated directly into the helmet shell through a series of air ducts through the EPS inner lining. In the S-R10, airflow enters through these ports and actively circulates over and around the rider's head through a series of channels, then exits through the rear of the helmet.
  • The top vent features a wide central slider that channels air toward the top of the head for greater comfort. When opened, it features vents to extract hot air from the rider's forehead. Under the rear spoiler are two air extractors for efficient evacuation of hot air. The chin vents consist of two openings located on the front of the helmet, on either side of the visor locking mechanism. Each flap has a tab at the corner that allows the vent to be opened or closed. Air entering through this point is channeled toward the interior of the visors, creating a laminated airflow that effectively prevents fogging. Additionally, the chin bar vents extract humid air to the outside of the helmet. The visor has two unique features including a metal locking mechanism lever to prevent unwanted detachment of the visor during impacts and/or crashes, plus a lower sideline for a maximized field of vision, adding to an already exceptional wide eye port providing 220 degrees of lateral visibility and 57 degrees of vertical visibility for great riding comfort.
  • The shield attaches to the shell via side cam mechanisms, allowing it to rotate and pivot to fully seal against the helmet's rubber window molding.
  • In addition, the visor itself can be easily replaced or removed thanks to its secure, tool-free quick-release system.
  • The S-R10 is equipped with a Class 1 optical shield, 3 mm thick and coated with an anti-scratch material.
  • The shield is equipped with internal pins to accommodate a PINLOCK 120XLT - 100% MAX VISION lens and external pins to accommodate removable elements.
  • Crown Pad: The crown pad and neck pad are elastically connected for better oblique impact management, featuring a four-panel construction (front, sides, rear) for an optimized fit with the appropriate foam thickness.
  • Upper Pad: The upper pad is removable and height-adjustable via the A-Head Fit System.
  • Cheek Pads: These are made with premium foam and fabrics, offering comfort and breathability. They also feature an emergency removal system that allows easy removal by track support personnel and medical staff. They also feature a channel for installing a hydration system.
  • The ECE/DOT/FIM-certified Supertech R10 weighs an impressive 1,540 grams for a size medium, or 3.4 pounds, giving the S-R10 an extremely high performance, protection, and weight ratio.
  • Chin Bar Profile
  • Another protective feature of the outer shell design is the chin bar profile, the base of which has been specifically sculpted to create a relief section. The lower profile is raised to avoid contact with the collarbone, and instead of the hard carbon shell coming into contact with it, the S-R10 features a softer EPP (expanded polypropylene) liner that extends beyond the shell and is covered by a more flexible rubber compound. This chin bar design reduces the risk of collarbone injuries, one of the most common injuries in motorcycling.
