Helmet ALPINESTARS Supertech R10 Solid ECE06/DOT/FIM glossy white / matt black. As a result of over 10 years of intensive study, development and testing, the goal of the Supertech helmet family is to create the most advanced, protective and performance-enhancing helmets possible for racers and riders around the world. After years of extensive research, development and testing of the Supertech R10 road racing helmet by Alpinestars' Helmet Product Development Department, together with MotoGP legend Andrea Dovizioso and MotoGP riders Jorge Martin and Jack Miller. With the S-R10, the design goal was to ensure the highest level of performance, especially in terms of protection and a new level of safety. The S-R10 helmet has been designed to provide the perfect combination of excellent ventilation, unsurpassed comfort and the lightest possible weight without compromising on any other front. Another crucial element unique to the design and development of the S-R10 is the advanced aerodynamics of the helmet, with countless wind tunnel sessions aimed at reducing drag and providing optimum aerodynamic stability.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS

  • CARBON SHELL CONSTRUCTION MULTI-LAYER COMPOSITE DISPERSES ENERGY IN IMPACTS.
  • ECE 22.06, DOT and FIM approved, the Supertech R10's shell construction utilizes highly advanced molding technology with a multi-composite combination that includes a high-density 3K carbon outer shell, a unidirectional carbon composite layer, an aramid fiber layer and a fiberglass layer.
  • The high-density 3K carbon outer layer provides excellent strength and energy dissipation efficiency over the shell.
  • The unidirectional (UD) carbon composite layer provides significantly greater radial strength around the shell, preventing compression, but allowing controlled deflection to reduce transmitted impact energy. And layers of aramid fiber plus glass fiber provide critical protection against penetration.
  • This layered composite combination created by bonding everything together with an advanced epoxy resin already applied over the prepreg fiber perfectly controls the ideal ratio of resin versus fiber to maximize strength, mechanical performance and light weight. The combination of material layers provides better energy management as well as limited deflection of the outer layer, resulting in energy being more widely distributed and better absorbed by the EPS shell.  
  • The unique shell construction of the S-R10 results in extremely effective impact protection. With a fully equipped in-house helmet testing facility within Alpinestars state-of-the-art R&D center, the company has conducted a comprehensive impact research program. Our research and development efforts have demonstrated that the S-R10 yields linear and oblique impact performance results that far exceed the current ECE 22.06 standard limits for helmets. For direct linear impacts, i.e. an impact at a 90-degree angle between the helmet and an object, the S-R10 exceeds the standard by an average magnitude of 37%. And for rotational acceleration and oblique impact, where the impact energy comes from an angle other than a 90-degree linear impact or a straight right-angle impact, the S-R10 exceeds the standard by 65%.
  • The S-R10 has four inner shells as well as the outer shell and is available in four anatomical sizes. The construction of the S-R10 is optimized to ensure that riders have the correct fit, which not only improves comfort and reduces overall weight, but more importantly, improves the effectiveness of the helmet in the event of an impact. Beneath the outer shell of the helmet is an eight-piece multi-density EPS liner, with six specific densities that are strategically placed in different zones to ensure excellent energy absorption of the impact forces dissipated on the outer shell, as well as a snug and comfortable fit. The EPS liner, like the outer shell, has its own unique dimension for each helmet size, further tailoring the helmet's performance and fit in terms of protection and comfort.
  •  The inner EPS surface is smooth, creating an optimized low-friction area for superior oblique impact management.
  • When it comes to other types of helmet testing, the best helmets are those that provide protection against rotational, oblique and linear impact forces.  
  • To help combat and mitigate those rotational, oblique and linear impact forces, Alpinestars has engineered a low-friction surface on the inner surface of the EPS liner. The inner surface is polished to be incredibly smooth and then specially coated to further reduce friction, allowing the comfortable liner to move against the EPS. The result is greater rotational, oblique and linear force management, allowing the rider's head to move independently within the helmet, or vice versa, which can significantly reduce the amount of force transmitted to the head, neck, brain and spine from an oblique impact, while reducing the chance of concussion. In summary, the combination of the internal shape and specific lining of the EPS shell, together with the specially developed surface on the comfort liner, provides specific rotational impact protection. This patented technology reduces the rotational acceleration transmitted to the rider's head.
